ALASKAN CONTRIBUTIONS POINT TO PARNELL VICTORY
Governor Raises Almost Half-Million From Over 1,500 Alaskans
Anchorage, AK – Sean Parnell's gubernatorial campaign today announced reaching $450,000 in overall fundraising, more than doubling the amount raised by his campaign in the previous reporting period and positioning him to win the Republican Primary on August 24. The Alaska Public Office Commission requires the most recent campaign fundraising and expense totals to be filed on July 26.
Bill Walker's report shows that he is largely self-financed, with $185,646.34 of his own money having been donated or loaned to the campaign, according to his 30-Day report, which was filed late Monday afternoon. Ralph Samuels' numbers were publicly unavailable at close of business Monday, July 26.
"I am humbled by the deep support of Alaskans and will continue working hard to earn their vote this August and again in November. I'm running for governor because of my passion for Alaskans and this great land. I am grateful for the number of people willing to contribute their time and hard-earned dollars to growing Alaska's economy and opportunities for our families."
More than 1,500 donors have given to the Parnell for Governor campaign thus far.

Honest Abe: Open Season Misinformation

In today's version, we set the record straight about the natural gas pipeline open season.
FICTION : Claims that Governor Parnell is hiding vital gas pipeline information from Alaskans. Nothing could be further from the truth.
FACT : According to Larry Persily, Federal Coordinator for the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects:
"When a potential natural gas shipper turns in their bids to a potential natural gas pipeline developer there's no cc on it...those bids are confidential from one entity to another. There's no federal law that says they have to share those with anybody."
Check out the video here: http://bit.ly/ct9Z2p
Persily made the statement during a press conference yesterday. His comments clarify the facts surrounding the federal open season process.
The headlines tell the story:
Pipeline official defends secrecy - Juneau Empire, 7/21/2010
Federal official says laws do not require disclosure - Anchorage Daily News, 7/21/2010
Â
This only confirms what Governor Parnell has been saying all along about the open season and reveals the political rhetoric from opponents for what it is - petty politics. The state government can't turn over records it doesn't have, the bids between private sector parties under a federally regulated process.
Actively delivering trustworthy information, look for future Honest Abe updates.
